Love In Malodorous Mire

the sun, it shone bright as the stars at night
and lit the world with holy light on high
brilliant gold rays broke clouds touched by light
I saw the dawn stretched across the sky
my heart flew far and wide that morn off morns
and saw the fields of joy spread vast before
now sways my soul, with love by love adorns
down weighted fell, my soul to hell it tore
the crimson pump in chest where it had been
by hands of she that given freely lost
both sight and way in times of trouble seen
now fire and pain in place of rain are host
and hold the court of love gone by to styx
and naught past joy, in chest nor mind afix
